Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I am always on the go and enjoy gardening, baking, and taking pictures. I love a good book and a cup of black coffee, a travel podcast and a glass of wine, or a refreshing glass of lemonade after a swim.
I move often and I submerge myself wherever I am planted- hence unrooted and blooming. I have had an array of jobs: social worker, retail, housesitter, yoga teacher, payroll specialist, writer, dog watcher, ESL teacher, 2nd hand seller…and…and…and. I’ve house hacked-rented out my home furnished, and moved to SE Asia on a whim.
I like to find the beauty in everything around me, from the smell of freshly washed laundry to a perfect chocolate cake, when a friend doesn’t shy away when life gets messy and a colorful weed in an otherwise “perfect” lawn.
Take a look at my gallery, read about my adventures, check out some recipes, and tell me what you’re up to.

Clamming!
I went clam digging for the first time. Other than the fact that low tide was around sunrise, I loved it. A shellfish license is affordable and our friends had extra diggers, nets, etc. The cleaning process is easy, albeit time consuming. Either way, it was a fun, new experience: driving on the beach, time…

What We Ate (WWA)
Late last week, I went through our pantry and pulled everything that expires this year and have been building meals around it. What we ate: burrito bowls with water canned ground beef, rice, corn, salsa, leftover onion and the last of a round of crumble cheese. Mini homemade “pizza” on soft taco tortillas: a layer…

Don’t Give Up On Your Plants
As we moved to the mountains and back to the coast, my plants got a bit neglected. I didn’t give up, though, and my efforts have paid off. I do have to mention that the apple trees were thriving, until a deer jumped our eight foot fence and had a salad bar.

Natural Manicure
I’m not one to write about cosmetics or fashion, especially nail care. After all, I’ve had exactly four professional manicures and even less pedicures in my life and chipped or smudged my polish within an hour. That being said, with two moves in as many months, planting season (so dirt under my nails) and hash…

Find the Beauty
I try to get outside daily, whether it be for a bikeride, a walk on the beach, or just doing my errands (post office, library, small groceries) on foot. Besides providing exercise, it’s a great way for me to notice the changes in my neighborhood I don’t when driving. I may see new flowers blooming.…

Spring Cleaning!
We may be closer to summer than not, but I’m still in spring cleaning mode. The weather has finally warmed a bit, so we went through our shop to declutter and organize. What came with that was the realization that there are several items that we no longer use: kayak paddles (we sold the kayak…

Homemade Acai Bowls
I’ve been looking for healthy easy meals and remembered how much we loved the acai bowls from a foos truck in Puerto Rico. The only problem is that they’re expensive. A tiny bowl at the store costs $3.99. So, I decided to make my own. The only problem is that I couldn’t find any acai.…

Catch a Sunrise (or Sunset)
Living on the prairie, I was so blessed to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets with a wide open view. I lived sipping coffee in the morning, watching the sun peek over the horizon every morning. At night, the sunsets were often mutes by clouds, but not always. We’ve moved back to the coast and one…

Cheap Eats…thanks pantry!
Last year when grocery prices started to skyrocket, I spent several weeks learning to can. From soup to pie filling to apples, I canned. Last week, I went grocery shopping and looked at meat for the first time in over a year. I’m so very thankful for our freezers which stored meat for us. Today,…
