Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I am always on the go and enjoy gardening, baking, and taking pictures. I love a good book and a cup of black coffee, a travel podcast and a glass of wine, or a refreshing glass of lemonade after a swim.

I move often and I submerge myself wherever I am planted- hence unrooted and blooming. I have had an array of jobs: social worker, retail, housesitter, yoga teacher, payroll specialist, writer, dog watcher, ESL teacher, 2nd hand seller…and…and…and. I’ve house hacked-rented out my home furnished, and moved to SE Asia on a whim.

I like to find the beauty in everything around me, from the smell of freshly washed laundry to a perfect chocolate cake, when a friend doesn’t shy away when life gets messy and a colorful weed in an otherwise “perfect” lawn.

Take a look at my gallery, read about my adventures, check out some recipes, and tell me what you’re up to.

  • Cookies in RV Oven

I made cookies in the 5th wheel! I found a small batch recipe and while they didn’t turn out pretty (I had no clue if the tekp was correct), but they were delicious. The recipe called for three eggs, but the eggs we get from our neighbor are jumbo sized, so I modified and used…

  • Moving Plants

When I was nineteen, I found a tipped-over spider plant at my apartment complex. It stayed that way for days, the dirt spilling onto the pathway. When I moved a couple of weeks later, I took the plant with me. I named him Herbie. He grew bigger and bigger, eventually requiring a huge pot. I…

  • Cheap Eats at Home

I’m always looking for healthier and cheaper meal options to make at home, especially in light of inflation. With summer approaching, I prefer spending less time cooking. During colder months, I enjoy making homemade pot pie (crust included) or a slow cooking roast. The other day, we were at friend’s house unexpectedly for lunch. He…

  • Roadtrip!

We drove from the Columbia Gorge–where our property is–to the coast today. What a pretty drive!

  • Live The Life YOU Want

“What are your plans for today?” A friend asks me regularly. “Getting an attachment for my outdoor grill” or “writing” or “cleaning a friend’s mom’s house as she’s in the hospital” or “helping a neighbor” are common answers. By not overcommiting to things I don’t like to do (book clubs with stuffy books, board member…

  • Propane: The Endless Hunt

It’s getting surprisingly more difficult to find propane. On my side of the river, only one place has had it in the last month and they’re closed on the weekends. My regular weekend place was out of service today, so I had to hunt down another place. We use propane for the heater, stove, oven…

  • Can An Outhouse Tip Over?

Yes. The answer is yes, yes it can. Well, a porta potty can, at least. We had our porta potty serviced on Tuesday and moved to the top of our driveway. For the past couple of days we’ve had a huge storm with thunder and lightening. Wind howled and rocked our 5th wheel. All was…

  • Plant Seeds

Forget waiting for the perfect planter, garden box, specialty starter box to plant your seeds. Get your starts started however you can.

  • Planting Trees

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. -Chinese Priverb Last week, I planted 55 trees on our property. They’re tiny, but I have high hopes that one day they will be tall, mighty, and beautiful. It felt wonderful to do the monotonous work of raking an…

  • Old-Fashioned Fun

Last night, we met some friends for a night our at Bingo. It was some good old-fashioned fun and I was there for it! It made me long for simpler times and was with a group of people I am happy I’m getting to know.
