Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I am always on the go and enjoy gardening, baking, and taking pictures. I love a good book and a cup of black coffee, a travel podcast and a glass of wine, or a refreshing glass of lemonade after a swim.

I move often and I submerge myself wherever I am planted- hence unrooted and blooming. I have had an array of jobs: social worker, retail, housesitter, yoga teacher, payroll specialist, writer, dog watcher, ESL teacher, 2nd hand seller…and…and…and. I’ve house hacked-rented out my home furnished, and moved to SE Asia on a whim.

I like to find the beauty in everything around me, from the smell of freshly washed laundry to a perfect chocolate cake, when a friend doesn’t shy away when life gets messy and a colorful weed in an otherwise “perfect” lawn.

Take a look at my gallery, read about my adventures, check out some recipes, and tell me what you’re up to.

  • How to Lower Your Cell Phone Bill

If you’re not using an MVNO, you’re likely paying too much for your cell phone bill. Don’t feel bad- I did it for years, too. Then I heard about MVNOs which use the regular towers/satellites/tech and phones that all of the big-name expensive companies. They just do it for a fraction of the cost. Years […]

  • Buy Yourself a Boquet

It’s been busy here at our house! Our garage remodel is coming along and we’ve been busy preparing for winter. I was able to get out for a short walk in a state park last week and I’ll do a longer post on that soon, but I mostly just wanted to share some pictures today. […]

  • House Projects

It’s been a long few days. On Thursday, we had someone remove insulation covered in mouse droppings from our attic. He rolled and bagged the insulation and I took the bags outside and loaded them on a trailer. He filled over forty construction bags. Thankfully, we had set up a plastic barrier around the attic […]

  • How to Create a Lasting Morning Practice

As a child, I thought it was strange that my mom set her alarm to wake up before anyone else. She’d sit in silence- in the living room if it was cold or on the back deck during warmer weather- and sip her coffee. She wouldn’t read the newspaper or watch the news. This was […]

  • Garage Remodel Update

We finally have a new roof on our garage remodel! This is a big deal for many reasons, the main one being that we’re miraculously this far into October and it hasn’t started raining consistently yet. When we purchased this house, we knew the garage addition would need a great deal of work. We didn’t […]

  • What is The Best Caramel?

A couple of years ago, I grabbed a jar of Trader Joe’s Caramel Sauce as an impulse by, deciding it was something I must have. I had just finished gathering dozens of apples from a local orchard with a plan to make apple pie and thought the caramel sauce would be delicious on top of […]

  • My War with Termites

We have termites. This isn’t new information, but until we started our garage demo, I had no clue just how many termites. After a brief moment of utter hopelessness- “let’s tear everything down and build a metal tiny house” – we decided to go to war with the termites. So, to the internet we went. […]

  • Barter System

The first time I bartered as an adult was when I was in my very first apartment. I was terrified of spiders and my upstairs neighbor didn’t mind taking care of them for me. In exchange, I learned how to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Every so often, I’d bring Gideon a heaping plate […]

  • The Benefits of a Meditation Practice

Twenty years ago, I stumbled across an ad in the local newspaper about a community yoga class being held one evening a week. I was just out of high school and was going to the community college, working, volunteering and didn’t have much free time. And yet. Something about the ad caused a stirring in […]

  • How to Remember What Color Paint You Used

I rue the day I thought ceiling paint was universal. Or the time we let renters pick the outside color for a house and approved the color, but didn’t note the name. We’ve been painting our house and between outside paint and trim and inside paint and trim, there’s a lot to keep track of […]
